AC Group targets UK domestic travel sector

Wholesale operator AC Group is entering the UK domestic travel sector.

The company is targeting group staycations and corporate and meeting bookers.

Coach operators, group travel organisers and special interest groups can tap into AC Group itineraries while maintaining their own brand to deliver the tour.

The new domestic tour packages are being unveiled at the British Travel Show in Birmingham this week.

AC Group has joined the Coach Tourism Association and Association of Group Travel Organisers to highlight its year-round itineraries.

UK managing director Angela Heaton said: “The domestic market marks a change from our historical focus on inbound travel.

“We’re thrilled to be able to apply our expertise in crafting memorable British itineraries to both inbound and domestic bookers, ensuring every client receives the high quality experience and customer service AC Group has been known for over the last 20 years.”

She added: “We have been developing the product over the past few months to ensure we are operationally in shape to support businesses who want to offer more unique tours.

“People really want more from their travels; not to be mere bystanders. By providing genuine experiences through a full itinerary of locations, activities and hotels, travellers are immersed in the destination.

“There’s also a real opportunity for coach tour companies in particular to offer an even wider range of products to an informed discerning traveller.

“Now 60 is the new 40, your average retiree is becoming more active and adventurous with a bigger budget but still wanting real value and great service.

“The personal touch, delivered by our suppliers, is essential to providing memorable ‘experiential’ journeys, and we anticipate our domestic market to be not only companies looking for a memorable team building event but also groups of friends and families celebrating milestone birthdays or special interest groups such as keen gardeners and active ramblers.

“We are extending our range of TV and film themed itineraries to include those which are especially popular with UK viewers, and will shortly release a new tour inspired by Game of Thrones.

“Our top Scottish tour is inspired by the TV series Outlander which has seen numbers catapult over the last year.

“Other areas such as the Cotswolds, Bath, Yorkshire and the Lake District also offer transferrable itineraries which we feel will be popular with British travellers.

“In addition, our recent expansion into Europe means we are able to become a one-stop shop for companies and groups looking to book a combination of UK and European travel.”
