ABTA receives 100 responses to Package Travel Directive consultation

ABTA has received more than 100 responses from members to its Package Travel Directive consultation.

A spokeswoman said although it was too early to comment on members’ views, they would be discussed at next week’s board meeting.

Manwhile, she said ABTA is preparing to send out a questionnaire to members concerning the Department for Transport’s consultation over the ATOL scheme.

It will include questions on:

  • Whether the scheme should include all flight-plus sales and airline-organised packages

  • Seat-only sales

  • Improved documentation to aid transparency

  • Whether ATOL holders selling non-air packages can protect them through the ATOL scheme

The questionnaire will  be sent out by the end of the month, with a deadline  for replies in March.
