Police deny E-Clear investigation

Police have confirmed they have no plans to launch a full investigation into credit-card processing firm E-Clear.

Head of operations for the Economic Crime Directorate for the City of London Police Dave Clark said: “We are not actively investigating. If a complaint was brought to us, we would assess it and go on to investigate if necessary.”

An E-Clear spokesman said reports were “categorically untrue” that the police were interested in the firm.

He said: “The police would only act if someone complained with proper evidence and no such action has occurred.”

Meanwhile, the Serious Fraud Office, an independent government department, has received a complaint from a member of the public. It confirmed no formal investigation had launched.
