Wizz Air records May passenger uplift

Wizz Air passenger numbers grew by almost a quarter in May.

The Hungarian budget carrier saw numbers rise by 22.4% to almost 3.5 million passengers over the same month last year.

The airline’s load factor improved by two percentage points to 93.9% despite capacity rising by close to 20%.

The growth came as the eastern and central European low cost carrier opened nine new routes from Poland and the Ukraine including the opening of a new base in Krakow.

The May figures gave Wizz Air a rolling annual total of 58 million passengers.

The airline marked its 15 years of operation by reaching a milestone of carrying 200 million passengers.
