One of the biggest UK airport ground handling contracts has been awarded by easyJet.
The deal will see aviation services firm John Menzies continue to handle the budget carrier at its home base of Luton airport.
The new long-term contract will see Menzies handle more than 24,000 flight turnarounds a year for the airline.
The financial terms were not disclosed.
The airline’s ground operations and customer management centres director Karen Cox said: “Menzies have refreshed their approach to working with easyJet and recognised the need for a culture of continuous improvement. I am confident they will deliver the customer experience we desire for all our passengers passing through this key base.”
John Menzies chief executive Giles Wilson added: “We have had a relationship with easyJet at London Luton for over 15 years and I am delighted that this is to continue at easyJet’s home base.
“This contract is one of the largest single ground handling contracts in the UK and I am delighted to have secured it.
“This together with other recent contract gains demonstrates that our renewed focus on our UK business is starting to pay dividends and I look forward to more progress throughout 2019.”
