Costa ship to be lengthened

COSTA Cruises has announced that its vessel Costa Classica will be enlarged at British shipyard Cammell Laird between November 2000 and March 2001.

The ship will be lengthened and have a deck added, increasing the number of cabins by 352 to 1,006. The extra deck will offer balcony cabins.

Meanwhile, a new diesel engine will be installed, so the ship’s maximum speed can be increased from 19 knots to 22.5 knots. Costa also has an option to have Costa Romantica enlarged with Cammell Laird.
