Travel Counsellors will host a 25-hour telethon on September 17-18 to raise funds for its partner charity Reuben’s Retreat.
Named ‘Reu-athon my25’, the broadcast is billed as a “Comic Relief-style” event and aims to raise at least £25,000. The telethon marks the 25th anniversary of the company and it will be broadcast live from Travel Counsellor’s in-house TV studio in its Manchester headquarters.
The schedule will see contributions from colleagues and Travel Counsellors with special editions of TC Gogglebox, Corporate (Celebrity) Juice, Carpool Karaoke and Loose Women.
There will also be live activities and challenges including a football tournament and a “Reu-nopoly” walk with a group of Kent Travel Counsellors walking around the Monopoly board sites in London.
External guests will also be on the show including motivational speaker Dr Kate Allatt, motivational coach Mike Finnigan and Travel Weekly editor-in-chief, Lucy Huxley.
Throughout the event viewers can donate via text and online and take part in silent auctions to raise money.
Karen Morris, operations director at Travel Counsellors said: “We launched the concept last year when we hosted the 23-hour Reu-athon, which was just incredible and has meant more people want to be involved this year and raise funds for the cause.
“We have a few surprises up out sleeve too, including some celeb appearances, plus there will also be a real focus on health and wellbeing throughout the event.”
