A travel agency branch manager diagnosed with kidney cancer seven months ago is to undertake a sponsored walk to help raise money to fight the disease.
Mark Maunder, who works for The Co-operative Travel in Morrisons supermarket in Llannelli in Wales, had the infected kidney removed in February but still has quarterly hospital scans to make sure he is in the clear.
He is to walk more than 26 miles overnight in the Cancer Research Shine Cardiff 2010 sponsored event on September 25.
“Having had cancer this year and having had family members who have lost their battles to this dreadful disease, I want to try and make a difference, however small it may be,” said the 47-year-old.
