Maltese Prime Minister to open Travel Convention

The Maltese Prime Minister is to open the Travel Convention that will be held on the island next month, organisers have confirmed.

The annual Abta-run convention will see The Honourable Dr Lawrence Gonzi open the first business session day of the three-day event with a short address to the 1,000 delegates.

A slight tweak of the convention programme has been made to accommodate Dr Gonzi, with the day now due to start 10 minutes earlier than originally planned at 9.50am.

Alex Incorvaja, UK director of Visit Malta, said: “We want to make this the most successful Travel Convention that Abta has organised and having the Prime Minister endorse it give further leverage to what Abta is trying to achieve.

“Whatever we can contribute to make this event a success for Abta and for visiting delegates will, most importantly, help to put Malta on the radar of the UK trade.”

Dr Gonzi has been the Prime Minister of Malta since 2004 and won re-election in 2008 when his Nationalist Party won a general election.

Delegates can register for The Travel Convention online at the official website www.thetravelconvention.com
