Marc Bennett has assumed responsibility for all Tui Travel’s European sport businesses.
Former divisional commercial director Bennett has been promoted to managing director, EMEA Sport Division, covering Thomson Sport, Events International, Gullivers Sports Travel, Sportsworld, Sport Abroad, Travel Sense and Tall Stories.
He will report to Darren Mee, COO of Tui Travel PLC’s Specialist & Activity Sector.
Ex-professional rugby player Bennett previous worked for rival Thomas Cook as commercial and cruise director.
He said: “Having taken a few months to look at what we have in the Sport Division, who we compete with and how we distribute, I am very excited by the opportunities in this sector.
“We have worked hard on a strategy that compliments our core business competences and take us into areas where we can add real value to our customers.
“If we execute that strategy correctly, Thomson Sport as a division will become a global market leader in sports tourism.”
