Thomas Cook Group has finalised the agreement with Midlands Co-operative Society that will see its 103 travel stores join the merger with The Co-operative Group.
At the time the retail merger was announcded on October 8 the Midlands Co-op part of the deal had only been agreed “in principle”.
But in a statement released today Cook said the terms of the deal had been finalised, with Midlands set to take a 3.5% stake in the new entity, with Cook owning 66.5% and the Co-op 30%.
The deal remains subject to anti-trust clearance by the European Commission, which is anticipated in December. The merged entity will become the UK’s largest travel agency chain with around 1300 stores.
