Uganda has unveiled plans to invest in water-themed tourism to widen its appeal to holidaymakers.
The country, famous for its gorillas and wildlife, is in the process of attracting investment to develop more hotels based around its lakes and rivers. A third of the country is covered by freshwater lakes and rivers.
Marketing and PR manager Edwin Muzahura said: “Most people come to Uganda to see the gorillas and the big five, but there is more to the country.”
Uganda is also looking for goodwill tourism ambassadors in the UK – ranging from celebrities to tourists and previous residents – to promote the country.
Meanwhile, tour operators and agents are invited to cocktails and a raffle draw to win a 10-day holiday at the Uganda stand, AF270, at 3pm on Thursday.
