A probe into the financial statements of failed travel giant Thomas Cook has been extended.
The matters being investigated by the Financial Reporting Council concerning EY’s audit of the financial statements of Thomas Cook for the year ended September 2018 will now cover the previous financial year as well.
The FRC’s investigations are being conducted by its enforcement division under audit enforcement procedure.
“The FRC will continue to keep the scope of the investigations under close review,” the body said.
The probe into the audit of the financial statements of Thomas Cook Group was opened in October following the collapse of the company on September 23.
It comes just days after it emerged that Thomas Cook collapsed with total liabilities of £9 billion, according to the Official Receiver.
