Ryanair expects festive season carryings to rise by 10% to reach a new record this year.
The no-frills carrier is set to fly more than 11 million passengers in the period between December 11 and January 8.
The busiest day was on Friday with an estimated 500,000 travellers on more than 2,500 flights.
The last flight on Christmas Eve will land at 8.55pm, with no flights on Christmas Day before services resume on Boxing Day.
The airline’s most popular ‘flying home for Christmas’ routes include Portugal, Morocco, Bulgaria, Lithuania and Poland.
Record numbers will head off to Spain and Italy for Christmas in the sun, with Austria, Italy and Switzerland ski routes also popular for both Christmas and new year.
