Video: Thomas Cook unveils new Redknapp TV ads

Thomas Cook has unveiled its turn-of-year campaign, with new and updated versions of last year’s adverts featuring Jamie and Louise Redknapp.

The campaign went live online yesterday, will appear in store today and will begin on TV and radio on January 1.

The new ads include a post-9pm version with more shots of Jamie Redknapp emerging from the sea, and a special version to air on Sky Sports which features more of the former footballer displaying his “keepy-uppy” skills on the beach.

Thomas Cook chief executive Manny Fontenla-Novoa said: “We were very impressed with last year’s response to the Jamie and Louise campaign, so we’re really excited about working with them again.”

Cook launches its campaign alongside research that claims customers are more likely to stick with package holidays through well-known brands following events such as the ash cloud which disrupted travellers in 2010.

The survey, carried out for Cook in the autumn by Research Now, found that two thirds of those who booked a late deal in 2010 intended to book earlier this year to secure the best prices.

Cook is hoping to tempt customers by offering 10% off all holidays until January 31, and also price-matching any price, including those on its own website.
