The Co-operative Travel managing director Mike Greenacre has been re-elected to the Abta board.
He will represent retail members with a turnover of more than £20 million, and held off challenges from On the Beach commercial director Johnny Pollard and Vincent Bourke, of Affinion International Travel.
Greenacre was originally re-elected to the board in April last year, but a fresh election became necessary due to the re-organisation of Co-operative Travel businesses in preparation for the proposed joint venture with Thomas Cook.
The planned merger between Cook, The Co-operative Travel and Midlands Co-operative, which would create the UK’s biggest retail chain of up to 1,300 shops, is subject to an investigation by the Office of Fair Trading.
