Travelodge to create 700 jobs in UK and Spain

Travelodge has confirmed plans to create 700 jobs with the addition of 35 new hotels this year in the UK and Spain.

Recruitment started this month for positions including hotel manager, assistant manager, receptionist, housekeeper, cleaner and Bar Café assistants.

The new jobs are being made available across the UK including London, Manchester, Birmingham, Liverpool and Bristol.

There are also five coastal regions: Paignton, Ramsgate, Portishead, Morecambe and New Brighton.

Sixteen jobs are based in Travelodge’s fourth Spanish hotel at Valencia Airport.

The budget chain’s HR director Michelle Luxford said: : “We have an aggressive growth plan in place which includes opening 1,100 hotels by 2025.

“To support this expansion plan it’s vital that we employ the right people first time.

“Therefore, to support our recruitment process we have developed a new attitude questionnaire which will help us identify if candidates have the right characteristics and behaviours to work at Travelodge.

“The attitude questionnaire took many months to develop; we sought feedback from current Travelodge employees by holding focus groups across the country to evaluate the right characteristics and behaviours to work at Travelodge.

“We are looking for people with resilience, who are passionate about their job, willing to do their best and those that are team players. It is also important that they are able to work effectively within a fast moving and changing environment.

“We are certain this new questionnaire is the right way forward and will support our goal to recruit the right staff to work in our growing organisation.

“We are looking forward to using the questionnaire in our recruitment drive to fill the 700 positions this year.”

The company’s 12-week fast-track management development programme led to 65 staff being promoted to management last year.
