Mounser announces retirement from Superbreak

Ian Mounser, sales director at Superbreak, has announced his retirement from the company after over 22 years.

Mounser has spent the last 14 being in the role of sales director and become a familiar face in the travel industry.

An announcement released this morning said Mounser will retire on April 29 but “will be continuing to work with the Company on a consultancy basis for a number of months beyond this date”.

He said: “I have enjoyed my time at Superbreak enormously, which very much defines my career within the travel industry.

“The Company has grown significantly to be a market leader in the hotel and short leisure breaks sector and we have seen a lot of change over the past two decades.

“We have built an excellent reputation within the travel trade, and indeed beyond. I would like to think that I have played some part in this progress.”

“I know that I will be leaving an outstanding sales management team behind and I have every confidence that they will continue to provide a great service for travel trade sales, which remains a vital part of our business.

“The travel industry is very much about people, both colleagues and contacts, many of whom I regard as good friends, so inevitably it is this aspect that I will miss the most.

“It is my hope to involve myself in some management training and consultancy projects, both within and outside the travel industry, which may keep me in touch with the industry. Superbreak has been great for me, and to me, and I wish it every future success.’’

Mounser will continue to work in his current role over the next three months, as normal, until his departure.

Eamonn Ferrin, managing director of Holidaybreak Plc’s Hotel Breaks Division, of which Superbreak is a part, added: “I would naturally like to take this opportunity, on behalf of everyone at Superbreak, both past and present, to thank Ian for his significant contribution to the growth and success of the Superbreak business over the past two decades.

“Under Ian’s guidance and leadership the business has grown to be a travel trade leader in the hotel and short break market.

“Ian has created, and put in place, a skilled and experienced travel trade sales management team and an expanding Groups Sales function which I am sure they can build upon our achievements to date. I wish Ian every happiness and success with his future plans.”
