Aer Lingus has reached a deal with Irish trade union Impact to end a dispute with cabin crew over imposition of new work rosters. However, it will be several days before the carrier resumes a full service.
The dispute has caused the cancellation of about one in ten Aer Lingus flights since January 17. The Irish carrier had suspended more than 200 cabin crew for refusing to work the rosters. The crew began a work to rule almost three weeks ago, saying the rosters were “anti-family”.
The deal followed talks organised by Ireland’s Labour Relations Committee, a similar body to the UK conciliation service Acas.
Aer Lingus said it had provided “clarification” to the union on a number of issues. Details of the deal were unavailable.
Union members at Aer Lingus had already agreed to work longer hours but objected to the new roster arrangement, which included a requirement to work double shifts.
