Discover Egypt boss welcomes back tourists

Nile cruise operator Discover Egypt has resumed flights to Luxor for the first time in a month following political upheaval in the country.

Flights from Gatwick, Manchester and Heathrow to Luxor took off this morning and were due to be met by director Philip Breckner, who flew out last night.

He said: “The good numbers on these first flights back into Luxor show the resilience of British holidaymakers and the popularity of Egypt as a destination.

“The support that the trade has given Egypt is immense and with March being one of the peak month for travellers to Egypt, we are pleased to report that our forward bookings are looking healthy, showing the faith the trade has in the destination as a safe holiday option for their clients.”

Discover Egypt is offering Nile cruises starting at £599 per person from Manchester and £699 out of Gatwick and Heathrow for departures in March and early April.

The price includes flights, full board seven night cruise with 10 guided excursions and transfers in resort. The ship will be allocated on arrival and will be on one of Discover Egypt’s six five-star vessels.
