SUNCARS has teamed up with air-fares database specialist Consolidata to offer car-rental bookings over the Internet.
Using Consolidata Plus, agents will be able to go into Suncars’ reservation system via the Internet and make a car-rental booking at the same time as booking an air ticket.
Consolidata Plus uses the Internet to access fares on the global distribution system.
General manager John Briggs said: “Currently agents have to make a booking for a Unijet flight then come out of the system and go into another to book a car. It makes sense to have a system where you can do both bookings at once using the same data.”
Briggs said the system will also prompt them to sell car rental by giving a quote for hiring a car with the air fare. “Agents have to subscribe and more will come onto the system once Plus launches,” said Briggs. “We expect it will be ready by the end of the year.”
