Inside Japan Tours has launched a tsunami and earthquake relief fund to raise money for those affected by recent events in Japan.
The operator has teamed up with a Japanese charity called Civic Force who are directly involved in assisting victims of the Tohoku devastation.
The company is hoping to raise £25,000 and if you would like to donate click here.
PR manager and travel consultant James Mundy said: “Like so many we want to do what we can to help the people in Japan and we urge anyone who can to donate to this fund so that the charity can continue its great work.
“In general we are following the situation in Japan balancing reports from our staff actually in Japan with some of news reports in the west.
“With the FCO advice still advising against travelling to Tokyo, some of our customers are cancelling their trips, but the majority are choosing the option to rebook for a later date.
“Some people are also requesting assistance with re-routing (eg heading via Osaka’s Kansai airport rather than Tokyo’s Narita airport) which InsideJapan is able to do with our staff in Japan. “
The operator is not charging customers who change their dates and have been offering a discount to customers who do still want to travel at a later date for supporting Japan when it most needs it.
He added: “Through booking with InsideJapan, the vast majority of the money paid by customers goes directly back into the local Japanese economy, which is essential at this time of need for the Japanese nation.”
