Kempinski Hotels is to open a property in the Seychelles in September 2011.
The move fits in with the luxury hotel group’s plans to expand in the Indian Ocean and Africa.
Ulrich Eckhardt, Kempinski president for Middle East and Africa, said: “We are proud of this new project, as it will not only add value to our portfolio, by marking our entrance in this exclusive market, but also to the destination itself.”
The new Seychelles Kempinski Resort will be located at Baie Lazare, on the island of Mahé, home to the international airport and the capital of Seychelles, Victoria.
The resort, a 30-minute drive from the international airport, features 173 rooms and suites, most of which have views of the Indian Ocean.
The hotel will feature an all-day dining restaurant, a specialty restaurant, and a beach bar as well as a spa with six treatment rooms, a swimming pool, a kids’ club, fully equipped gym, tennis courts, water sport centre and a casino.
Banqueting and conference facilities for up to 200 participants will also be available.
