Luggage firm promotes traveller hygiene kits to trade

A luggage firm is looking to work with the trade to distribute traveller hygiene kits.

Cabin bag company GATE8 Luggage has been able to liaise with its supply chain to bring a range of ‘tested and certified’ traveller hygiene kits to market.

They contain hygiene products to ensure that travellers can meet regulatory and safety recommendations currently associated with air and rail travel.

The kits, which contain masks, gloves, hand sanitiser and disinfectant wipes, cost £4.99 on the firm’s website.

GATE8 is looking to expand its affiliate programme “to ensure that travel agencies and tour operators have a reputable partner should their customers need assistance with the provision of travel-related PPE and hygiene products”.

Company founder and chef executive Alistair Callender said: “The idea for the kits actually came from one of our existing airline clients.

“They found that the unprecedented demand for PPE was leading to the supply of poor-quality PPE, at extortionate prices, as new unknown manufacturers entered the market.

“They asked if GATE8 were able to help them source PPE and six weeks later we launched our traveller hygiene kits.”

He added: “We are aware that agencies and operators are now helping their customers to navigate new and complex requirements as the Covid-19 pandemic continues to evolve.

“We want to help bring confidence back to the market by ensuring that people can travel confidently, safe in the knowledge that both regulatory requirements and safety recommendations are met.”
