The main runway at Mumbai international airport has reopened after a weekend of disruption following an incident involving a Turkish Airlines aircraft.
The Airbus A340 from Istanbul with 97 passengers and crew skidded off the runway and got stuck in mud at the Indian hub on Friday. A number of incoming flights had to be cancelled and diverted over the weekend due to the runway closure.
An airport spokesman said the aircraft was towed away early today (September 5) and the runway cleared for operation at 6:51am local time.
A Gulf Air aircraft with 137 passengers and six crew skidded off the runway as it came in to land at Kochi airport in the southern Indian state of Kerala last week.
