Getabed hires former Cook chief Quinn

Independent bed bank Getabed.co.uk has recruited former Thomas Cook sales chief Tony Quinn as commercial director.

Quinn left Thomas Cook in 2000 after 22 years with the travel giant in a number of roles including senior sales positions and development roles.

He set up agency Avista Travel in 2002 which has now broadened into a number of niche consumer-facing brands including Bridesandbeaches.com and holidays2mauritius.co.uk.

Quinn said: “Avista Travel is now well-established and in the capable hands of a strong management team for its day-to-day running, so I started to look for my next challenge.”

The bed bank’s managing director Matt Stuart said: “We are delighted to have Tony onboard. His broad experience across the UK travel industry will be an invaluable asset to the Getabed.co.uk team.

“We have lots of plans in place to grow our business and to work with even more travel agents across the UK as we head into our 21st year of trading.”

He added that the company had “ambitious growth plans” in place for the next 12 months, following its debut on the Sunday Times Fast Track 100 list of Britain’s fastest-growing privately-owned companies in December 2010.
