Reuben’s Retreat marks eighth anniversary

The family of Reuben Graham have thanked everyone for their support as the charity in his name marks its eight anniversary.

The charity was set up by Reuben’s mum Nicola Graham shortly after his death at just 23 months old from an inoperable brain tumour in 2012.

It offers practical and emotional support to families bereaved of their child or who have a child with a life threatening or limiting illness.

In a video to mark the charity’s eight anniversary, Nicola said: “Thank you to everyone who has supported Reuben’s journey. Since 2012 we have supported over 920 individuals allowing them the opportunity to make fantastic and magical memories. Your gift keeps on giving.”

Reuben’s dad Mike said: “We want to say a big thank you to everyone who has shared our story and donated and supported in any way possible; you have helped us achieve phases four, five and six of a multimillion 10 phase project.”

Reuben’s brother Isaac also appeared on the video with his parents to wish the charity ‘happy birthday’.

The charity is run in an old cottage hospital in Derbyshire, acquired in 2014, and is currently in phase six of a 10 phase project to renovate and transform the building into a ‘home from home’ for families with terminally ill children to visit and spend time together. The building also houses a bereavement centre for families who have lost a child.
