Emirates has resumed passenger flights between Birmingham and Dubai.
The first flight back after the Covid-19 pandemic landed at BHX at 11:51 BST this morning.
Flights between Dubai and Birmingham will operate four times a week, utilising an Emirates Boeing 777-300ER aircraft every Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Sunday.
Inbound flights will depart DXB at 7:35 (GST) and arrive at BHX at 12:20 (BST). Outbound flights will depart BHX at 14:20 (BST) and arrive at DXB at 00:25 (GST) the following day.
Birmingham is the fourth UK airport for Emirates to return services to, following Heathrow, Manchester and Glasgow.
Richard Jewsbury, divisional vice president UK at Emirates, said: “Our teams in Birmingham and Dubai are delighted to be resuming passenger flights, reconnecting the Midlands with Emirates’ global network. We have taken comprehensive steps to keep our passengers, colleagues and communities safe, and look forward to welcoming passengers once again.”
Emirates has committed to cover Covid-19 related medical expenses, free of cost, should passengers be diagnosed with Covid-19 during their time away from home.
The airline has revised its booking policies so customers whose travel plans are disrupted by Covid-19 related flight or travel restrictions can rebook to fly at a later time, request travel vouchers or request refunds via the Emirates website or their travel agent.
It is giving passengers hygiene kits containing masks, gloves, hand sanitiser and antibacterial wipes.
Covid-19 PCR tests are mandatory for all inbound and transit passengers arriving to Dubai (and the UAE), including UAE citizens, residents and tourists, irrespective of the country they are coming from.
