VIRGINExpress is to launch double-daily Stansted flights to Berlin in November.
Chairman Richard Branson will unveil the fares for the route, which is expected to commence on November 10, this Wednesday.
The new prices will compete with an introductory fare of £79 return put out this month by KLM UK, which is to also launch the route for this winter on October 31.
However, KLM UK will operate three-times a day to the new German capital.
The Virgin Express route will connect with the low-cost airline’s flights from Shannon and Brussels to Stansted.
A spokesman confirmed Virgin Express will drop Gatwick flights to the Brussels following codeshare partner Sabena’s decision to axe its services on October 31 (Travel Weekly September 6).
Meanwhile, rival budget airline Ryanair is to start double-daily Stansted-Aarhus flights on November 1.
Prices to the Danish city will lead-in at £99 return.
