Active England adds UK wild swimming tours

Active England has expanded its range to include new wild swimming tours across the UK.

The domestic operator, which already offers cycling, walking and adventure tours, wants to tap into the “growing market” for outdoor swimming trips with itineraries from May 2021.

Founder Will Cairns said he had noticed more people trying wild swimming for the first time during lockdown, and drew up a list of 30 wild swim locations, with a focus on the southwest.

Tours include accommodation and travel to wild swimming destinations, and typically include two swims a day plus walks and picnics. Guides trained in first aid and lifesaving accompany the tours.

There are six-day options in Broadsands Beach, Devon; Sharrah Pool, Dartmoor; and Carbis Bay, St Ives, and Lantic Bay near Fowey, both Cornwall.

Cairns said: “These tours have been developed to enable like-minded people to swim safely and create lasting memories.”

Agents can ‘tweak’ itineraries or create their own packages.
