E-ticketing has been introduced by Thomson and First Choice for all online beach holiday bookings.
The new system replaces mini ticket booklets the sister Tui Travel operators have been issuing customers with for the last nine years.
The new e-tickets have started being used at check-in desks at 20 regional airports used by Thomson Airways.
The e-tickets and any associated travel vouchers are sent as a PDF attachment in an email to the customer around six weeks prior to departure.
Customers can print off tickets from their email, and can also access and print their e-ticket from their own personalised website, ‘mythomson.co.uk’ or ‘myfirstchoice.co.uk’.
The move assists the operators in meeting their sustainability commitments by reducing the amount of paper it uses and lowering its carbon emissions.
Thomson and First Choice senior CRM manager Denise Cooper said: “We are always looking at ways to modernise our business and become a more sustainable tour operator.
“The new system uses less paper than the previous ticket booklets, and with the simplicity of its use we aim to improve our online customers experience and overall satisfaction with our service.”
