AGENTS are to keep their basic 9% commission payments from British Midland, chief operating officer James Hogan has pledged.
The airline was due to restructure its payments this month to come into line with rivals which have cut commissions to 7%. Hogan said the decision by British Airways to increase basic rates from 7% to 10% for agents without contracts meant British Midland had to reassess its plans.
He held meetings with agents last week to outline the airline’s plans for future payments. “We will increase market share with our partners instead,” said Hogan. This winter British Midland will reveal which airline alliance it is to join in order to improve market share to boost revenue.
