African Travel & Tourism Association appoints new chair

The African Travel & Tourism Association has elected John Corse as its new chair.

Corse, who is managing director of Serengeti Balloon Safaris, takes over from former WTM chair and founder of Just a Drop Fiona Jeffery and will serve a two-year term.

Born and brought up in Kenya, he was educated in the UK and served as an officer in the British Army for six years before returning to Tanzania.

He said: “I am acutely aware of the changing landscape of global travel at this time and look forward to working with the ATTA team and membership to ensure that we are adaptable and proactive in the face of these challenges.”

In addition to his role with Serengeti Balloon Safaris, Corse is also a director of Tanzania Association of Tours Operators (TATO) and Responsible Tourism Tanzania, and is chairman of Arusha Bicycle Centre, a social enterprise.

His former roles include managing director of Nomad Tanzania and general manager of Fastjet Tanzania.
