Lowcost’s Evans apologises over ‘crooked’ slur

Lowcostholidays chief executive Paul Evans has issued a full public apology to Thomas Cook after its ‘crooked’ Google advert prompted the travel giant to start legal proceedings.

After news of the legal action broke on Travel Weekly sister site Travolution Evans said he has sent a personal message of apology to Ian Ailles, chief executive of mainstream holidays at Thomas Cook.

The PPC advert, one of a number Lowcost has been using as Thomas Cook struggles with financial problems, was appearing this morning under searches for terms including the Cook brand.

Evans said: “I want to publically apologise to Ian and the staff at Thomas Cook. Whilst this was unauthorised by the company I take full responsibility and it has been dealt with internally.

“We have traded with Thomas Cook for some time and we hope to continue to do so. I have sent a personal message to Ian. This is not the Lowcost style, and while we have a sense of humour we probably overstepped the mark.”
