Latin America specialist Latin Routes has already surpassed the £1,000 mark in its Christmas appeal to buy presents for kids in families affected by the crisis in travel.
The initiative was launched on October 30 and now the operator’s office is being flooded with deliveries of gifts from its dedicated Amazon wishlist.
Jess Dennison, director and head of trade relations, said: “We have smashed through the £1,000 mark today with gifts and donations for the Latin Routes Christmas Appeal.
“It just shows how much in our industry cares about each other, which sends a positive message as we go into lockdown.”
The operator is asking the industry to nominate children in families hit by redundancies or reduced hours in travel.
Nominations will remain confidential so people can recommend children without worrying about identifying particular families.
Supporters of the appeal can buy a pre-selected gift for a child from the online gift list compiled by Latin Routes or donate a few pounds for the operator’s team to buy a gift.
