The non-profit arm of Sandals Resorts and Beaches Resorts has donated Christmas toys to more than 10,000 children across the Caribbean.
The Sandals Foundation’s annual Christmas holiday toy drive, which has been running for a decade, saw more than 10,800 items delivered.
Shipments of toys were delivered in the Bahamas, Jamaica, Turks and Caicos, Antigua, St Lucia, Grenada and Barbados.
Logistical support was provided the Salvation Army, police, schools and local community groups while taking into consideration Covid health and safety protocols of the respective countries.
Donations came from toy maker Hasbro pus support from staff, visiting guests and travel industry partners.
Sandals Foundation director Heidi Clarke said it was critical to maintain a semblance of normalcy, particularly during the Christmas holidays.
“Christmas is a magical time for children and this year should be no different,” she said.
“Because it has been such a tough time for families across the Caribbean, it was even more important for us to do what we could to help bring joy and, of course, a sense of hope through the delivery of these gifts.
“Our invaluable partners at Hasbro have been truly supportive of our mission and we are pleased that we have been able to find a way to get these toys safely in the hands of some of our most deserving children.”
