CHOICE Hotels International has signed an agreement with an Internet solutions company to provide in-room Web access across the franchiser’s hotels.
The company will use Baltimore-based GuesTech’s Suite- Link Internet portal in around 50,000 of its rooms – billing them as ‘rooms of the future.’
Choice president and chief executive officer Charles Ledsinger explained: “Guests will be able to use their laptops or leave them at home and still access the Internet includinge-mail, shopping, travel, entertainment and news services.”
The Internet access bypasses the hotels’ phone systems meaning that lines are not kept busy with Web surfers.
Choice plans to install Suite- Link in rooms across the USbefore rolling out the concept in the UK and Europe.
