New LTB guide hopes to change restaurant perceptions


THELONDONTourist Board has published an Essential Restaurant Guide to promote eating opportunities in the capital. The pocket guide lists more than 170 restaurants.



The LTB has identified the restaurant sector as a key area for overseas and domestic promotion. It cites research showing that visitors spent 20% of their total budget on eating and drinking in 1998. This amounts to £1.5bn in tourist spending at London’s restaurants and pubs.



A spokesman said: “London has not always been known for the quality of its food. The LTB’s campaign is key to changing perceptions about the quality of its food offering.”
