Four travel firms make Sunday Times profit fast track

Four travel companies have been placed in the top 100 UK private firms with the fastest growing profits.


JAC Travel, Leisure Pass Group, Travel Counsellors and Audley Travel all feature in the Sunday Times annual Profit Track 100 league table.


Wholesaler JAC Travel tops the travel contingent, coming in at 15th in the list with a 93% rise in profits to almost £6.5 million in the financial year to October 2011.


The company, which supplies operators with rooms at 7,000 hotels in 550 cities worldwide, achieved sales of more than £103 million.


Smartcard attractions ticket provider Leisure Pass Group appears at 54th in the league with profits up 60% a year to £3.7 million on 2010.


Expanding agency Travel Counsellors is in 80th position with profit growth of almost 48% to £4.5 million in 2010, helped by a repeat business rate of 63%.


Luxury operator Audley Travel features in 90th position with 45% profit growth to £8.8 million in 2010. The company, which saw private equity group Equistone acquire a majority stake last month, claims 80% of sales are repeat or recommended business.


Additionally, aircraft maintenance company Airline Services appears ninth in the list with a 106% rise in profits to £5 million in 2010.
