Flights to Sri Lanka are to be run from Gatwick by British Airways next year.
Three flights a week will serve the capital city of Colombo from March 31 using a three-class Boeing 777 operating via Male in the Maldives.
BA last served Colombo from October 1995 until March 1998.
The service goes on sale tomorrow (August 16) with discounted return fares starting at £595 available until September 25.
BA’s Gatwick managing director Silla Maizey said: “The UK has the second largest number of tourists visiting the island after India so it’s a fantastic opportunity for them to fly there with British Airways from Gatwick.
“Sri Lanka has so much to offer visitors from beach, spa or adventure holidays, to cultural, wildlife and nature breaks.”
