NEW AIR FRANCE RATE
Air France is due to announce changes to its commission structure this week in response to BA’s Interim Agency Bonus scheme. It originally planned to bring in a reduced commission rate from its 9% level.
UNIJET/TTO MEETING
Unijet general manager short-haul John Riley described a marketing strategy meeting between tour operators and the Turkish Tourist Office as ‘very positive’. “The earthquake followed a number of other problems,” he said. “The TTO has been proactive in moving things along for next year. We need that support.” Meanwhile, Turkey specialist Dolunay Holidays has organised a lorry of emergency supplies for victims of the disaster.
BA CAPS NEW TICKET
British Airways has unveiled a price tier for tickets called premium saver fare. The category has some restrictions but is designed to be flexible for business travellers wanting cheaper premium tickets. The fare is available on UK routes to Africa and the Indian Ocean. Prices for Club World are between £1,990 and £2,500,offering savings up to £1,000.
AIRTOURS SKI SAVING
Airtours Ski has released its second-edition 1999/2000 brochure with savings of £200 per person on millennium holidays. The offer is available on holidays booked before October 31.
ABTA CONVENTION
Bookings for the ABTA convention in Cairns have risen to 1,250. Prices for the November event rise by £50 from September 1.
