Robert Broad seeks expansion into non-travel areas

Family-run independent agency Robert Broad Travel has created the new name ‘RB Collection’ as it looks to expand into non-travel sectors areas.

RB Collection will initially comprise of Robert Broad Travel, based in Lichfield, Staffordshire, and Sports Events Travel.

Company director Oliver Broad, whose father Alan started the business in 1984, declined to give specific details of future plans.

But he said: “Travel is always changing, and we must also adapt, and so I wouldn’t rule out non travel related business opportunities that can complement the services we already offer our clients.”

He confirmed that the Robert Broad Travel name would be retained.

“Robert Broad Travel is very well established and will continue to service our local clients,” said Broad. “However, we are outgrowing ourselves and we need a new umbrella name to pursue new opportunities.

“Our history is very important to us, we are still a family owned and run business, but we also have a commitment to our clients and our employees and so we must move with the times.”

He runs the company along with his father and fellow director Nathan Collins.

Alan Broad said: “Nathan and Oliver have some great ideas for the future and I have never stood in the way of change.

“We have a fantastic team and we are all looking forward to building on our success and trying something new.”

The agency has won both the Aito Specialist Travel Agent of the Year and the BRIT award for Great Rail Journey’s Agent of the Year.  It is also up for Small Travel Agent of the Year at this year’s British Travel Awards.
