Cairns chosen for Corroboree 2013

Cairns, the gateway to the Great Barrier Reef, is to stage the 2013 Corroboree Europe mega agent fam and training event.

Up to 300 qualified Tourism Australia ‘Aussie Specialist’ agents from the UK and Europe will attend the training workshops in Cairns on May 15-26 and travel to and around the country with Qantas.

Agents will have the chance to attend one of 22 familiarisation trips across Australia.

Tourism Australia UK and Northern Europe general manager Rodney Harrex said: “Cairns is an ideal place for our Aussie Specialists to learn more about how unique Australia is as a destination, with the Great Barrier Reef and the Daintree, the oldest rainforest in the world, right on the doorstep.

“I would like to encourage agents to sign up to our Aussie Specialist Programme if they haven’t already done so, as there is plenty of time to complete the training modules required to qualify to attend Corroboree.”

Tourism Tropical North Queensland chief executive Rob Giason said: “Cairns and the Great Barrier Reef will give Corroboree 2013 delegates a welcome and programme they will remember for a long time.

“We are excited to be partnering with Tourism Australia, Tourism Queensland and Qantas to bring Aussie Specialists to our beautiful, natural and adventurous destination to experience some of Australia’s most amazing tourism product.”
