Tui Travel sustainability efforts recognised

Tui Travel sustainability efforts have been recognised in an official ‘green’ listing of big companies.

The travel giant has been included in the Carbon Disclosure Leadership Index for the fifth consecutive year.

It is the only tour operator to be featured in the index, which scores companies on their climate change disclosure.

High scores indicate good internal data management and understanding of climate change related issues affecting the company.

Tui Travel’s score places it in the top 10% of the 238 respondents from the FTSE 350.

Depurty chief executive Johan Lundgren said: “To be included in the Carbon Disclosure Leadership Index for the fifth year running is a fantastic achievement and I would like to thank everyone involved.

“This inclusion demonstrates that as a group we understand the issues related to climate change and are facing up to them in the day to day running of the business.

“Disclosure is the first step, to have an impact you must demonstrate carbon efficiency improvements. We are doing just. The launch of our Sustainable Holidays Plan 2012-14 earlier this year shows that once again we are leading the way in our industry.”
