n date set for coach and bus ’99 show



Birmingham NEC is to host the Coach and Bus ’99 trade show from October5-7. Speakers at the event include representatives from the VehicleInspectorate, the Highways Agency, the Historic Towns Association and the British Tourist Authority. There will also be contributions from Action 2000 and the Department of Transport, Environment and the Regions.



n budget ev rental opens second us site



Budget EV Rental Cars has opened its second site in the US at SacramentoAirport. The company – a joint venture betweenBudget and electric and natural gas-poweredvehicle firm EV Rental Cars – also has a site in LosAngeles. The Sacramento fleet has 20 vehicles and rates start at £28 a day, depending on the model. EV Rental Cars said it is looking to open otherlocations in southernCalifornia and thesouthwest of the US.



n avis forms newmanagement team



Avis has ended its search for a chief executive officer and formed a three-member management team which comprises president and chief operating officer of the rental car group Robert Salerno; president ofcorporate and business affairs Kevin Sheehan; and president and chiefoperating officer of thevehicle managementservices group Mark Miller. Avis has been without a CEO since Craig Hoenshell left in December.



n national express launches magazine



National Express has launched an on-boardcustomer magazine called Spirit. The first editionis now available on selected services across the country. Spirit provides passengers with up-to-date news on National Express along with information about journeys and fares.
