Ayscough Travel has been appointed official travel supplier to the 2000 BTGlobal Challenge, known as the world’s toughest yacht race. Ayscough will manage travel bookings for the crew, their families andsupporters who want tofollow the race. The race leaves Southampton onSeptember 2000, calling at Boston, Buenos Aires, Wellington, Sydney, Cape Town and La Rochelle in France, returning to the UKon June 23 2001.

The number of visitors to Britain in 2000 will be a record 28.4m, an increase of 6% on 1999 projected figures, according to the British Tourist Authority.
The BTAestimates foreign visitors will spend £14.5bn, an increase of 8% on the projected spend for 1999.
