US east coast braced for second storm

More flights disruption is expected this weekend in the US as a second winter storm is set to hit the region during the holiday period.

More than 3,000 flights were cancelled on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and yesterday after the first storm dumped more than 30 centimetres of snow as it moved northwards.

Parts of Canada were due to be hit next by the storm which brought with it tornados and left 13 people dead.

The new storm is predicted to hit parts of New England, the mid-Atlantic and Ohio valley as 2012 draws to a close bringing snow to those areas that have so far only had rain.
