Portman Travel chief executive Michael Hare has been named chairman of the board of global business travel network Radius.
Hare, immediate past chairman of the Guild of Travel Management Companies, is the first Radius chairman from outside the US.
He replaces Bill Tech, president and CEO of Travel and Transport, who has served as Radius chairman since 2001. Tech will remain as a member of the board.
Portman Travel is a founding shareholder of Radius and Hare joined the group’s board of directors in 2011.
The Radius network has 3,300 locations in 80 countries and manages $21 billion of annual corporate travel spending.
Hare said: “I hope to bring new insight and experience to the role and help consolidate Radius’ position as a world-class TMC that delivers unique value through its global network of best-in-market agencies.”
