AVIS Europe has expanded into India, opening offices in nine cities in the country.
Customers travelling to India can now book with Avis in New Delhi, Bombay, Calcutta, Bangalore, Jaipur, Madras, Udaipur, Agra and Cochin.
Services offered include chauffeur-driven vehicles, airport transfers and self-drive.
In addition, long-term rentals and fleet-management services will also be available for businesses.
As part of the Avis worldwide network, a range of vehicles can be reserved in advance for travel from any Avis location in the world using the Wizard reservationsystem.
The move into India signals Avis’ ambitions for business growth encompassing the major commercial and leisure centres throughout the sub-continent.
The company has declared it aims to form strong relationships with travel companies operating in India for both domestic and international developmentopportunities.
Meanwhile, Avis has teamed up with Swissair and Eurostar this summer in two separate deals for customers.
Avis’ deal with Eurostar, which runs until September 30, sees customers receiving a 20% discount on top of already existing preferred rates with the cross-channel operator. Group A rentals for a week lead in at £143.
Meanwhile, with Swissair, it is offering free 24hr car-rental to customers flying on the carrier to Zurich.
The offer will be extended to Basel and Geneva on September 1 and may also be rolled out toSwissair destinations outside Switzerland.
The package is open to first and business-class passengers and any customers who booked an electronic ticket. The car can be booked via Swissair’s reservation offices.
