Travel Weekly has obtained the details of all the proposed Thomas Cook store closures and made the full list public for the first time.
In March, Cook announced plans to close 195 stores as part of a restructuring under group chief executive Harriet Green and Peter Fankhauser, UK chief executive.
Travel Weekly has plotted the location of all the stores on the list (dated February 26) on a Google map. It shows where the main impact of the Cook retail contraction will hit, with particular concentration of closures cutting a swathe across the country from the north through the Midlands.
This reflects that 119 of the closures are of formerly Co-op stores (Co-operative Travel Group, Midland or Ilkeston) which came into the Thomas Cook Group following the mergers in 2011.
Thomas Cook declined to comment on the list, saying only that closures had been confirmed on a region-by-region basis to employees as well as local and trade media.
A spokesman said the focus of attention was now on the ongoing 90-day consultation with staff working in the stores on the proposed closure list.
Cook said the closures would affect 900 retail staff in the group.
